Why Taylor Swift was savagely booed at the Super Bowl

Last night’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles saw Taylor Swift cheering on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. It’s no secret that she rarely misses a chance to see Kelce play, but her presence seemed to ruffle some feathers.

When she was shown on the big screen at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, many in the crowd responded with boos.

Swift appeared a bit taken aback, even casting a sideways glance at the camera before turning to her friend, rapper Ice Spice, and asking, “What is going on?”

Despite the less-than-warm reception, Taylor was later seen smiling and chatting with those seated nearby.

This isn’t the first time Taylor has faced boos at a Super Bowl game. In 2023, the same happened with fans of the New England Patriots during a game she attended to support Kelce.

Many fans on social media think they have figured out why Swift was booed during the game, which ended in a loss for the Chiefs.

“It’s the Eagles fans booing. She’s from the Philly area but obviously rooting for Travis and the Chiefs,” commented one person.

“The boos are from Eagles fans since she’s cheering for the opposite team. This is quite normal,” another added.

Someone else humorously remarked, “I don’t get why Taylor Swift got booed. She was just there supporting Travis Kelce, not like they’re doing a High School Musical moment on the field.”

To add another funny perspective, someone shared, “Boyfriend: They haven’t shown Taylor Swift yet. Me: I heard she got booed when they did. Boyfriend: Why’s that? Me: Eagles are playing against her boyfriend’s team. These fans even booed Santa!”

A Presidential Audience
This Super Bowl was also noteworthy because it was attended by President Donald Trump, marking the first time a sitting US president has been at the game.

Previously, Swift had openly shown support for Kamala Harris during the presidential campaign, which led Trump to criticize her on social media, writing, “I hate Taylor Swift.”
