Over the course of 2025, we’ve lost beloved performers from current and classic shows, as well as TV hosts and series creators, all of whom left an indelible mark on the small-screen landscape.

The actor (pictured right), who played dad George Owens on the sitcom Mr. Belvedere, died in January after a battle with small cell lung cancer. He was 90.

David Lynch

The Twin Peaks creator died in January at the age of 78 from cardiac arrest due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The character actor, who died of undisclosed causes in February, played Con Stapleton on HBO’s Deadwood. His TV credits also include Gunsmoke and Remington Steele. He was 80 years old.

The co-creator of Fox’s Fringe and Sleepy Hollow and CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 reboot died in February at the age of 51 from kidney disease.

The actress, who is known for her TV roles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gossip Girl and All My Children, passed away in February at just 39 years old. New York City’s chief medical examiner declared that Trachtenberg died naturally as a result of complications from diabetes mellitus.

The actor passed away in July at the age of 56 after battling cancer away from the public eye. He got his American break on the soap Another World, before going on to star in Charmed, Nip/Tuck and FBI: Most Wanted.

The actor died in July at the age of 67 after suffering a cardiac arrest. While he was best known for his work in the Quentin Tarantino films Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill, Madsen also had TV roles on 24, Powers, Hawaii Five-0, The Mob Doctor and Blue Bloods.

The actress, best known for playing Dee Thomas on the 1970s sitcom What’s Happening!!, passed away in August at the age of 60.
