The case of the kidnapping of Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy, seems to have more questions than answers. And as local law enforcement involvement expanded to include the FBI, it seems like anyone who can has any kind of knowledge that would be beneficial to the investigation has gotten involved in one way or another. Now, there’s another name to add to that list.
“BREAKING: We have a good clue about what just happened at Nancy Guthrie’s home. FBI experts on video, imagery and physical science [were] seen carrying video forensics equipment into the tent. A prominent member of this team has worked other high-profile cases including the Bryan Kohberger investigation,” Fox News reporter Michael Ruiz said on X on Thursday, February 12.

The case Ruiz is referring to is the Idaho University murder case, where Kohberger was ultimately captured and pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony burglary.
“Photos obtained by Fox News Digital appear to show investigators left carrying a diagram with human heights. I believe this expert may have been on scene to compare physical conditions to the Nest video in order to develop a suspect description,” Ruiz also added.
This all comes after investigators told NBC Tucson affiliate KVOA that a pair of black gloves were located in a search around Nancy’s home. The gloves were sent for DNA analysis. The FBI had previously released surveillance photos and video of a potential subject obtained via Nancy Guthrie’s doorbell and security cameras. In the video, the suspect can be seen wearing a ski mask, jacket, and gloves, and carrying a weapon.
Those images are reportedly being used to “build a physical profile,” with law enforcement focusing on everything from the “labels of the shoes” to “shoe size, gender, height and weight,” according to RadarOnline. Plus, there are reports that the police are also looking at the suspect’s gait for clues to his identity.
According to TMZ, law enforcement believes the kidnapper is from the Tucson area. In the ransom note sent, the kidnapper promised to return Nancy Guthrie to Tucson within 12 hours of receiving the ransom, which means they cannot be too far. The ransom was reportedly set at 6 million. Proof of life, however, has reportedly not been provided.
Nancy Guthrie and her late husband Charles shared three kids: Savannah, Annie, and Camron. Savannah Guthrie is, of course, well known for being an on-camera fixture on the Today show. Alongside her siblings, she has remained active on social media during the past few days, sending messages to her mom and pleading with the potential abductors.
On one of those videos, Savannah said, “We believe that somehow, some way, [Nancy] is feeling these prayers and that God is lifting her even in this moment and in this darkest place,” adding, “We believe our mom is still out there.”
“We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock, trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken, and we don’t know where, and we need your help,” Savannah also explained. “So, I’m coming on just to ask you, not just for your prayers, but no matter where you are, even if you’re far from Tucson, if you see anything, you hear anything, if there’s anything at all that seems strange to you, that you report to law enforcement.”
