After the tragic death of Rob and Michele Reiner, new details about their family’s relationship with their son, Nick, has emerged.
Three days after their bodies were found, Rob and Michele’s two children Jake and Romy, released a statement about the situation “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience,” the statement read. “They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

Rob & Michele Reiner’s Medical Records Are ‘Sealed’ Until Further Notice as Their Son Faces Murder Charges for Their Death

Sources told Us Weekly about the tense family dynamic shortly after The Princess Bride and his wife’s passing. “Nick’s problems have been going on for so long, so while everyone is in a state of shock right now, it’s not entirely surprising,” the source said
The source also explained that the situation regarding Nick has been “going on for years.” “A lot of his anger was directed at his parents for many, many years,” the insider explained. “They did everything a parent could possibly do to help him. Even in his younger years, they really tried to get him help. And then it became a cycle of seeking treatment for him, kicking him out, or him leaving the house, him moving back in.”
Their youngest daughter Romy had documented her bond with her father on her Instagram and has had her own feelings about her brother. “Romy has been so traumatized by Nick’s behavior. She has always been so close with her parents, and watching their constant pain over Nick has impacted her and the whole family so much,” the source told Us.
“It’s been so much of their life. Rob and Michele were honest about their struggles with Nick, and those who spent time with the family saw it firsthand,” one source revealed. “Everyone who knew them and loved them is struggling right now, because it was never a secret.”
Rob and Nick previously spoke about the latter’s struggle with addiction. Nick wrote the 2015 semi-autobiographical film Being Charlie about a young man grappling with addiction. Rob served as a director. “It was very, very hard going through it the first time, with these painful and difficult highs and lows,” the director told the LA Times about making the movie. “And then making the movie dredged it all up again.”
In a movie Q&A, Rob said “there were disagreements” and “at times it was really rough” when the pair were trying to depict the father-son relationship. Nick said, “Sometimes it would get overwhelming for me.”
