22-Yr-Old Son Demands A Car Or He Will Leave Home And Go Live With Dad

When we have children, we are embarking on a lifelong project. It is not something that comes and goes quickly; it is a commitment that lasts, whether they are infants or adults.

This often works in our favor, but sometimes, there are challenges within the family. This was the case for a mother with her 22-year-old son, Michael.

She thought everything had settled down now that he was no longer a teenager, but she had no idea what lay ahead. That’s when he decided to play a card she wasn’t expecting.

My son, Michael, had just turned 22 last month, and I believed we had passed the turbulent teenage years. Little did I know, a storm was brewing right under my nose.

One day, while I was preparing lunch in the kitchen, Michael stormed in, his face twisted with frustration.

“Mom, we need to talk,” he said, his tone unusually serious.

I turned to him and said, “Sure, what’s on your mind, honey?”

He leaned against the counter, arms folded. “I need a car.”

I paused, taken aback. “A car? What happened to your part-time job? You were saving up for one.”

Michael let out an exasperated sigh. “I know, but it’s taking forever to save up, and I really need it now.”

I frowned, wiping my hands on a kitchen towel. “Michael, cars are expensive. You know that. Besides, you have a job, you can save up a bit more and—”

Impatiently, he cut me off, “No, Mom, I can’t wait anymore. All my friends have cars, and I’m tired of depending on you for rides or taking the bus. I need my freedom.”

Feeling frustrated, I said, “Michael, I understand, but we can’t just afford to buy you a car out of the blue. It’s not that simple.”

He clenched his jaw, his eyes narrowing. “Well, maybe I’ll just go live with Dad then. He’ll buy me a car.”

His words hit me like a ton of bricks.

David, my ex-husband, always tried to buy Michael’s affection instead of being a responsible parent. I couldn’t believe Michael would even suggest such a thing.

“Michael, you can’t just threaten to leave because you’re not getting what you want,” I said, trying to keep my voice calm.

“Why not? Dad would be happy to have me. He always spoils me,” he retorted, his tone defiant.

I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts, “This isn’t about your dad. It’s about responsibility. You’re an adult now, and part of being an adult is making responsible decisions.”

He rolled his eyes, “Yeah, responsible decisions like being the only one among my friends without a car.”

Though our conversation ended there, the tension lingered in the air. I couldn’t shake the feeling of disappointment and worry.

The following days were filled with silent treatments and tension between Michael and me. Every time I tried to bring up the topic, it ended in arguments.

One evening, we sat down for dinner, and I decided to try again.

“Michael, can we talk about the car situation again?” I asked cautiously.

He sighed, poking at his food, “What’s there to talk about, Mom? You still won’t buy me one.”

“It’s not just about buying you a car, Michael. It’s about the way you’re handling this whole situation,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

He looked up, his expression defensive, “What do you mean?”

“I mean, threatening to leave if you don’t get what you want is not how adults handle things. It’s not fair to manipulate me like that,” I explained, feeling a mix of frustration and sadness.

He shrugged, “I’m just tired of waiting. Dad would understand.”

“Dad isn’t here, Michael. And buying you a car won’t solve everything. What about the expenses that come with it? Insurance, maintenance…” I trailed off, hoping he would understand.

He remained silent for a moment before pushing his plate away, “Forget it, Mom. You’ll never understand.”

As he left the table, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt, wondering if I was being too harsh or if I was failing as a parent somehow.

Days turned into weeks, and the tension in the house only seemed to escalate. Michael became more distant, spending most of his time out with friends or locked up in his room.

One Saturday morning, I found a note on the kitchen counter:

“Mom, I’m going to stay with Dad for a while. I can’t stand being here anymore. Maybe he’ll understand me better.”

My heart sank as I read the words. I knew this day might come, but I never thought it would happen like this.

I immediately dialed Michael’s number, but it went straight to voicemail. Panic started to rise within me as I tried to think of where David lived now. We hadn’t been in touch for years after the divorce.

After some frantic searching, I managed to find David’s number and dialed it, hoping he would pick up.

“Hello?” David’s voice sounded surprised on the other end.

“David, it’s me, Sarah. I… I need to know if Michael is with you,” I blurted out, trying to keep my voice steady despite the rising panic.

There was a moment of silence before he responded.

“Sarah, what’s going on? Michael isn’t here.”

My heart sank even further. “He left a note saying he’s coming to stay with you. He’s upset because I won’t buy him a car.”

David let out a frustrated sigh, “I had a feeling something like this might happen. Look, I’ll try to talk to him if he shows up, but he can’t just run away from his problems.”

I thanked him before hanging up. Days passed without any word from Michael. I tried calling and texting him, but he didn’t respond. I couldn’t focus on anything, constantly worrying about him.

Then, one evening, there was a knock on the door. My heart leaped into my throat as I rushed to answer it. It was Michael, looking tired and defeated, with a duffle bag slung over his shoulder.

“Mom, can we talk?” he asked, his voice sounding small.

Relief washed over me as I pulled him into a hug, “Of course, come in.”

We sat down in the living room, and Michael began to speak, his voice shaky, “I’m sorry, Mom. I was being stupid.”

I squeezed his hand gently, “It’s okay, Michael. I’m just glad you’re back.”

He looked down, avoiding my gaze, “I realize now that running away wasn’t the solution. Dad didn’t even have a clue what I was talking about when I arrived.”

I nodded, feeling a mix of sadness and relief, “I’m just glad you’re safe. But we really need to talk about what happened.”

Additionly, we talked. We talked about responsibility, about communication, about the challenges of adulthood. It wasn’t an easy conversation, but it was a necessary one. In the end, Michael understood that getting a car wasn’t just about fulfilling a desire for freedom; it came with responsibilities. And I understood that communication was key, even when things got tough.

Since then, we worked on rebuilding our relationship, stronger than before, knowing that challenges would come, but we would face them together.

76-year-old Susan Sarandon criticized for her clothing – has the perfect response for haters

Susan Sarandon, a titan of the silver screen and a beacon of individuality, has never shied away from speaking her truth—both on and off the camera. With a career spanning decades, she has captivated audiences with her talent and captivated hearts with her unwavering authenticity.

From her iconic role in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” to her Oscar-winning performance in “Dead Man Walking,” Sarandon has left an indelible mark on the film industry. Yet, it’s not just her acting prowess that sets her apart; it’s her unapologetic embrace of self-expression.

In an industry often dictated by narrow standards of beauty and conformity, Sarandon refuses to be confined by expectations. Recently, when critics took aim at her fashion choices, labeling them “inappropriate,” Sarandon responded in her trademark fashion—without words.

Instead of engaging in verbal sparring, Sarandon let an image speak volumes. Sharing a photo of herself proudly flaunting her physique in nothing but panties, she effectively silenced her detractors, asserting her right to define her own standards of appropriateness.

But Sarandon’s defiance extends beyond the realm of fashion. At 76, she embraces aging with grace and wisdom, recognizing the preciousness of time and the insignificance of societal norms. Her secret to maintaining youthfulness? A hearty dose of laughter, regular exercise, wholesome nutrition, and, of course, a stellar makeup and hair crew.

Yet, beneath the glamour and accolades lies a woman unafraid to chart her own course. Sarandon surrounds herself with individuals who share her vitality, curiosity, and courage, refusing to waste energy on the trivialities of life.

In a world that often seeks to diminish and confine, Susan Sarandon stands as a testament to the power of self-assurance and resilience. She embodies the spirit of defiance, urging us all to embrace our true selves and carve our own paths, regardless of the naysayers.

As we applaud Sarandon’s unwavering spirit, let us also heed her example—choosing authenticity over conformity, and daring to be unapologetically ourselves. In a society that often seeks to silence individuality, Susan Sarandon’s voice rings loud and clear: be bold, be fearless, and above all, be true to yourself.

Few names evoke the image of Hollywood’s larger-than-life characters quite like Michael Clarke Duncan. Standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall, with a physique that made him the perfect fit for tough-guy roles, Duncan was a force to be reckoned with.

But behind that imposing exterior was a gentle soul, an exceptional talent that continues to inspire performers and artists around the world. Known for his booming voice and contagious smile, Duncan left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry.

    The Journey of a Dreamer
Born in Chicago on December 10, 1957, Duncan grew up with a single mother who instilled in him a strong sense of responsibility and a deep love for the arts. Despite a difficult life, he dared to dream and aspired to reach beyond his working-class background.

His path to fame was anything but conventional. Before gracing the big screen, Duncan worked in various professions, from being a bodyguard for Hollywood’s greatest actors to being a bouncer and even a ditch digger. But a chance encounter with a casting director changed the course of his life, propelling him into the world of acting and catching the attention of Hollywood.

    The Breakthrough Role
In 1998, Duncan made his debut as Bear in Michael Bay’s action-packed film “Armageddon.” His genuine presence and undeniable screen charisma struck a chord with audiences, opening the doors to a career-defining role that would bring him international acclaim.

Willis and Duncan met for the first time on the busy, high-stress set of the 1998 motion picture masterpiece “Armageddon.” The renowned Michael Bay, known for his glorious vision and ability to helm high-stakes storytelling with grace, expertly directed this movie, an action-packed spectacle of devastating proportions.

Willis, an established Hollywood heavyweight, and Duncan, a rising star with a magnetic screen presence, were thrown together by their roles in the movie.

A Woman Who Became A “Vampire” By Covering Entire Body In Tattoos Issues Warning
A fierce warning has been sent to those who are imitating her, by the woman who holds the Guinness World Record for having the most bodily alterations.

Known as the “real-life vampire” due to her unusual appearance, Maria José Cristerna has been working on her large collection of tattoos for the majority of her life. She had her first tattoo at the age of 14.

With 50 physical changes in total, the Mexican woman has cemented her spot as the most changed woman in the Guinness World Records for 2022.

Among Cristerna’s unusual modifications are implants in her arms and forehead, multiple piercings, a split tongue, and an amazing collection of tattoos that cover almost her whole body, including her eyeballs

Speaking to Guinness World Records, Cristerna admitted: “In the beginning, my dad didn’t agree with the idea. But after that, he took me to the tattoo studio to get my very first tattoo.”

She emphasized her deep connection to art, stating: “Art runs through my veins. Since I was a little kid, I loved art, and now I can express it through my body.”

She attributes her changes to an oppressive and abusive ten-year marriage, seeking to advocate for other women who have experienced comparable physical, mental, and emotional abuse. “The only way to escape from violence and abuse is by loving yourself. We came to this world to be happy,” she asserted.

Her physical changes are emblems of bravery, tenacity, and liberation from her past.

Although every alteration has particular meaning, Cristerna found that having implants placed in her arms and the pigmentation in her eyes to be the most agonizing.

Celebrating her Guinness World Records title, Cristerna remains resolute in her pursuit of self-expression.

“You always can reach your goals. There are no limits. Nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it,” she declared.

She envisions covering 100 percent of her body in tattoos, proudly stating: “I don’t care what people think about me. I put myself in first place. I know who I am, and that is what is important.”

She did, however, issue a cautionary message to young people contemplating similar drastic alterations, as Cristerna said: “The advice I would give is that you have to think about it a lot as it is irreversible.”

She continued: “I love the way I look, but you have to understand that there are young people who are very open to tattoos and piercings and everything. It’s become fashionable, so we might get to a point where it’s not what we want anymore, and we might not like it anymore.”

“So you have to think about it very hard in order to love it and be able to defend it your whole life.”

The “Vampire Woman,” who earlier this week wrote about a new tattoo, is still getting inked, despite her advice to others not to get tattoos unless they were absolutely confident about them.

She posted a picture of her most recent makeover on Instagram, showing an artist working on her back at a tattoo shop. A caption that goes with the image says, “One more stripe for my brother’s tiger Rene Camarena Laus Satanus.”

  • Growing up as a gay child, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper thought he would never be able to have his own children

Growing up as a gay child, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper thought he would never be able to have his own children

Anderson Cooper became a father when he was close to 60 and had already broken up with his long-term boyfriend, Benjamin Maisani. However, the two exes got back together, just not in a romantic way.

Anderson Cooper and Benjamin Maisani were so private about their relationship that it took years before it was revealed that they were dating. The pair started seeing each other in 2009.

In March 2018, Daily Mail announced that the couple was living together at Anderson’s firehouse home. The Manhattan, Greenwich Village home he bought for $4 million was later renovated.

Anderson and Benjamin only came out about their relationship in May 2015. At the time, the CNN news anchor shared an Instagram image of him and Benjamin and wrote:

“I guess when you’re with someone a long time, you start to pose alike.”

After that, Anderson started opening up more about his relationship. So much so that in August 2016, he and his boyfriend appeared together for an issue of Architectural Digest.

At the time, the couple was showing off the remote home they co-owned in a section of Brazil. In 2014, Benjamin spoke to French Morning about all the attention his relationship with Anderson was getting.

He also addressed why they’d spent so much time trying to keep it private. The businessman said he understood why people were so interested in their relationship but didn’t feel the same.

Benjamin explained that he hadn’t thought about or wanted to be a celebrity like most people. He shared that he knew from the beginning that exposing the relationship was risking the attention on it getting out of hand.

In March 2018, after a decade of dating, Anderson’s spokesperson confirmed that the journalist and Benjamin had separated. According to reports, the CNN anchor explained the split by saying:

“Benjamin and I separated as boyfriends some time ago. We are still family to each other, and love each other very much.”

Anderson explained that he and his ex-boyfriend remained best friends and would continue sharing their lives. During an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, the television personality revealed one of the reasons that caused them to break up.

He shared how Benjamin wasn’t sure he wanted to have children. However, Anderson didn’t wait to have another partner before working on his dream of becoming a father and fulfilling it at age 53.

In 2020, when reaching the end of his segment on CNN, Anderson revealed that his first child and son, Wyatt Morgan, had been born. He also opened up about why the milestone was especially significant for him, stating:

“As a gay kid, I never thought it would be possible to have a child.”

The star shared his gratitude for the people who paved the way for him to realize his dream. He also shared his appreciation of the nurses and doctors who took part in helping welcome his son.

The television personality also uploaded four Instagram images of his baby boy, with the first image showing him lovingly bottle-feeding Wyatt. In the post’s caption, he revealed that the boy was only then-three days old.

He explained how the child’s first name was the same as his own father, who passed on when he was just ten. The second name was a family one from his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt’s side, and also one his parents liked.

At the time, Anderson said he’d found a list his parents had made 52 years before when deciding what to name him. Little Wyatt was born weighing 7.2 lbs and was described as “sweet, and soft, and healthy.”

The journalist also thanked his son’s surrogate for carrying him, watching lovingly and tenderly over him, and giving birth to the boy. He also thanked the surrogate’s family for their support throughout the process and afterward.

Anderson concluded by revealing that he wished his mother, father, and brother, Carter, were alive to meet his son. However, he chose to believe they could see his child, and he imagined them smiling and laughing with their arms around each other.

He was happy knowing their love was still alive in him and Wyatt and that their family line would continue. In August 2020, Anderson heard that Wyatt’s sleep schedule was unusual for the then almost four-month-old child.

The newborn baby was sleeping for 12 hours each night! The CNN anchor explained that he was being assisted by a nurse and joked he wasn’t sure what she did to make the boy sleep so much, but whiskey and Ambien weren’t used!

Even though he had someone assisting him in taking care of the child, Anderson had one condition. The star said he didn’t want his child to be raised by a single parent.

During a May 2020 “The Howard Stern Show” appearance, Anderson explained why he didn’t want his child raised by him alone. After losing his father, the star noted how his mother wasn’t very parental when she raised him and his brother as a single parent.

He wished he’d had another adult who came in and filled that gap. Someone who would offer to take him to lunch or a ball game now and then, or suggest to talk to him, with the journalist adding:

“So I thought, ‘Well if something happens to me — or even if something doesn’t happen to me — if more people love my son and are in his life, I’m all for that.”

He noted how he thought having two parents would be good if possible. Ironically, even though he and Benjamin broke up, the former couple still lived together in their home because they got along well.

Anderson acknowledged the situation between him and the nightclub owner was “weird.” Although Benjamin was initially reluctant to have children, he’d come around to it and was now a great co-parent to little Wyatt.

The former couple lived together in the Greenwich Village firehouse home that Anderson bought in 2009 and renovated. The star said because Benjamin was French, Wyatt would probably call him “Papa” while he would be “Dad” or “Daddy.”

The businessman spoke to the little boy in his home language, and Anderson joked that he didn’t understand what he was saying and could be turning Wyatt against him! However, when asked if the former couple could get back together, the journalist said that wouldn’t happen.

While speaking to WSJ magazine in August 2020, Anderson revealed how becoming a father had woken him up. He shared how he’d felt he was waiting for his actual life to begin even though he was then-53.

The star said he’d focused on getting somewhere or having a story, but focusing on Wyatt finally gave an order to everything. The news anchor noted how “It’s changed everything.”

Anderson also used to wake up late because of working night shifts, but since welcoming Wyatt, he now woke up at seven in the morning. It was his goal to wake up before his son got up because it was the most significant moment of his day.

The newborn baby [Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper], who weighed 6.8 lbs. at birth, would also be co-parented with Benjamin [Maisani].
He loved seeing the little boy stretch and smile when he saw him. Anderson made his way to his son’s room on the fourth floor from the third one and waited for him to make sounds alerting the star that he was awake before going in to check up on him.

In June 2020, the television personality told People magazine that he was open to expanding his family in the future. However, he needed time to sleep more normally and clear his head first!

He thought having a sister or brother for Wyatt would be great. Then in February 2022, Anderson announced on “Anderson Cooper 360°” that he’d welcomed another son, Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper, through a surrogate!

The newborn baby, who weighed 6.8 lbs. at birth, would also be co-parented with Benjamin. The star also revealed at that moment that his former partner was in the process of adopting Wyatt, and the boy’s last name would be changed to Maisani-Cooper too.

Although in December 2020, after welcoming Wyatt, Anderson confessed that he’d become “more tired than I’ve ever been.” However, he loved being a father and “wouldn’t change it for the world,” plus seeing his son often moved him to tears.

“Only you can look after this child now,” she told Nancy. “Her mother can’t provide for her.”

A shiver ran down Nancy’s spine. She stared at the baby and backed away.

“No, it can’t be! Patrick was a loving husband. He would never do this to me!”

Nancy turned around and left. She would never doubt Patrick.

    “Watch out!”

Nancy bumped into one of Patrick’s old friends, Mike. She was too lost in her thoughts to notice where she was heading.

Mike started chatting with her, offering his condolences. Nancy didn’t want to talk to anyone, but she had to be courteous. She finished the conversation as soon as she could and headed to her car.

The baby’s thoughts replayed in her mind, but she dismissed them. However, as Nancy opened her car door, she was shocked. The same baby lay in her back seat, crying.

Nancy looked around. Amanda was nowhere to be seen. “How did this baby even get here?” she wondered.

It was cold, so Nancy removed her jacket and began wrapping it around the little one.

But she froze when she noticed a birthmark on the baby’s neck. “It can’t be,” she muttered to herself.

The birthmark was exactly like Patrick’s. Nancy didn’t want to suspect her late husband of cheating. But now, she needed the truth. She needed to know if Patrick had been unfaithful to her.

Nancy drove home with the baby, took Patrick’s hair strands from his hairbrush, and went to a hospital.

“Hello, I’d like to get a paternity test done,” she told the receptionist at the counter.

“OK, ma’am. Normally, it takes a few days to get the results,” the woman said.

“Can it be done quicker?” Nancy asked. “I’ll pay extra.”

“Well, we do have expedited service. Let me see what I can do. But it will cost you more.”

“I’ll take it,” Nancy replied. She submitted Patrick’s samples and paid for the test.

Sitting in the hallway, she was awaiting the results when the baby started crying. Nancy sniffed the baby’s clothes. Her diaper didn’t need a change.

Nancy guessed she must have been hungry. There was still time before the results came in, so she drove to a supermarket and bought baby formula, bottles, and a few diapers — just in case she needed them.

She returned to the hallway and sat there, feeding the formula to the baby. After what seemed like an eternity, a nurse approached her with the results.

The woman handed her an envelope and walked away.

“This is the truth, and I’ll have to accept it whether I like it or not,” Nancy thought as she opened the results.

Her head seemed to spin when she read the words, “Paternity rate – 99%.”

Nancy looked at the sleeping baby in her arms and swallowed the tears in her eyes. Patrick had cheated on her and kept her in the dark.

Nancy decided she would not live with the proof of his infidelity forever. She would find the baby’s mother and give the baby back to her.

Pulling herself together, Nancy drove home and began going through Patrick’s things. But she didn’t find anything that could point her to his lover. She moved to his office next, searching his drawers, files, and cabinets. But nothing.

Nancy sighed. The baby was asleep in the living room. Grabbing the baby monitor, she headed to Patrick’s car. She searched under the seats, in the glove compartment, and in all the nooks and crannies of the vehicle. But she didn’t find anything significant.

Nancy sank into the driver’s seat when her eyes landed on the GPS. And it was then it hit her. Patrick was terrible at directions and always used the navigator. If he had ever visited his mistress’ house, that is where she would find her address.

Nancy went straight to recent destinations on the navigator. The list wasn’t long, mostly familiar places: local restaurants, the hardware store, and Patrick’s office. But then, one address caught her eye—it appeared more frequently than others, and she didn’t recognize it.

“This is it,” she thought. She took the baby with her and drove to the address.

Arriving there, Nancy found herself in front of a modest house. She scooped the baby in her arms, walked to the front door, and knocked.

    “Hello? Anyone home?” she asked.

After the tenth knock, when nobody answered the door, Nancy concluded the house was empty. She looked around and decided to approach the neighbors. She started with the house next door and rang the doorbell.

The door opened with a creak, and Nancy’s eyes widened when Amanda stepped out.

    “You?” Nancy asked.

“How…how did you find me?” Amanda stuttered.

“I was trying to find my husband’s…” Nancy paused. “His other woman. I wanted to return her baby.”

A strange sadness flashed across Amanda’s face. “The woman who lived next door… died a few days ago. She had a heart attack when she learned about your husband’s accident. Emma is no more.”

“Wait…did you say Emma?” Nancy asked, shocked.

“Yes,” Amanda nodded. “Did you know her?”

    “Was…Was her last name Warren?”

When Amanda nodded, Nancy hung her head in shame. “Can-Can I come inside?” she asked. “There’s something I’d like to tell you. I feel I could use some talk.”

Amanda opened the door wider for her, and Nancy stepped inside. They settled in the living room. “Emma was my classmate,” Nancy began recounting her past. “She was also my friend. But I wronged her and…Patrick…”

Nancy and Patrick were in their school’s hallway. She was standing next to her locker when Patrick approached her.

“Hey, Nancy,” he said quietly, and she looked at him.

“I…I need to tell you something,” Patrick added anxiously.

    “Hey,” she smiled. “Yes?”

“I…I’m in love with someone else, Nancy,” he confessed. “I know you’ve been really kind and everything, but I’m sorry.”

Nancy was shocked. “Tell me it’s a joke, Patrick,” she cried. “You can’t be serious!”

But Patrick was serious. Patrick was head over heels in love with Emma, and Emma loved him, too.

Nancy was so distraught that day that she returned home in tears.

“Sweetie, what’s wrong?” Her mother immediately sensed something had happened at school.

Nancy sobbed as she told her how Patrick had broken up with her.

“I want to break them up!” she yelled. “I won’t let them be together!”

“Nancy, you won’t be able to create your own happiness by destroying someone else’s,” her mother advised her. “Revenge is never an option. Forget about him.”

In the next few days, Nancy tried everything she could to drive Patrick and Emma apart—she spread silly rumors, planned coincidental run-ins where she’d flaunt newfound confidence, and even stooped to sending anonymous notes, trying to stir up jealousy.

However, nothing worked. Emma seemed happy, wrapped up in her and Patrick’s world and Nancy was left on the outside, her plans crumbling uselessly around her.

But Nancy wasn’t the one to give up. One night, she had the perfect idea to drive a wedge between Emma and Patrick.

“Hello, Nancy, how are you?” Nancy visited Patrick, and the door was answered by this mother.

“I’m fine, Mrs. White. Is Patrick home?”

“Yes, dear. Let me get him.”

Patrick was confused to see her on his doorstep. “Nancy? What’s going on?”

“I know this will come as a shock to you, Patrick, but…I’m-I’m pregnant!” she announced.

Patrick was shocked and terrified. “What…but…Are you sure?”

When she nodded, Patrick invited her inside. She told him she hadn’t told her parents yet because she was scared. Nancy said her father would definitely be against it and force her to terminate the pregnancy. So she begged Patrick not to tell anyone about it and noticed how easily he succumbed to her lie.

Patrick was a responsible guy. Nancy knew that. He held her hands and said, “I’m the child’s father, so I’ll take the responsibility for our baby. And yes, don’t worry; this will stay between us.”

    Present-day…

“I used him. I lied to him. I wasn’t pregnant,” Nancy told Amanda. “I was hurt, and I couldn’t stand losing him to Emma. So I told him a lie that changed everything. He was ready to step up, leave Emma, and be…a father.”

“Lies ruin everything, dear,” Amanda shook her head. “And what after that? Did he never find out the truth?”

“He didn’t,” Nancy revealed. “I kept up the act, the morning sickness, the whole thing. But after a couple of months, I…I couldn’t carry on with it. So, I told him there was a mistake with the test and that the doctor was wrong. And by then, Emma had…moved. She was heartbroken and had left town with her parents. Patrick and I stayed together. He never went back to her, never tried to find her. We just moved on. Or pretended to…” Nancy added, looking at the sleeping baby in her arms. Now she knew Patrick had returned to Emma.

“And I guess it’s time to correct what I couldn’t back then,” Nancy said and rose to her feet.

She was leaving Amanda’s house with the baby when the older woman stopped her.

“What are you going to do with the baby?” Amanda asked.

Nancy turned around and smiled at Amanda. “I will raise her as my own child. Maybe that’ll help me seek forgiveness from Patrick and Emma.”

And Nancy followed through on her words. She raised baby Catherine with love. When Catherine turned 16, Nancy told her everything about her past. She was expecting Catherine to hate her. And she was prepared for it.

But Catherine smiled and said, “Nothing changes how I feel about you, Mom. You raised me. You were there for every scraped knee, every fever, every heartbreak. You’re my mom in every way that counts.”

Nancy cried silently and hugged her daughter. Catherine’s words had not only relieved her heart, but they’d also made her believe that Emma and Patrick had forgiven her.
