Update on Kate Middleton as first official engagement since surgery is announced

Though there’s plenty of question marks regarding Kate Middleton at the moment, not least what caused the “abdominal procedure” that will see her out of action until after Easter, there’s been an update sure to be of interest to all those out there who think of themselves as royal fans.

According to reports, the Princess of Wales’ first official engagement since her surgery has been announced, and is due to take place on June 8.

Hello! say that on that date Kate will review Trooping the Colour, one week before the main event takes place.

A statement on the official Household Division website reads: “Trooping the Colour reviewed by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales is identical to Trooping the Colour reviewed by His Majesty The King, with the exception that some additional mounted officers ride when His Majesty The King is present.

“Taking part will be over 1400 soldiers of the Household Division and The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, including 400 musicians from the Massed Bands, all of whom will parade on Horse Guards for the second of two formal Reviews.”

Having a fixed date upon which Kate is scheduled to return to royal action could go some way to allaying the concerns of those who have taken the general lack of information offered since the future Queen’s surgery for a bad omen.

Speculation has been rife in recent weeks as to the possibility that Kate’s condition is in fact worse than the Palace have let on. The Palace themselves were forced to issue a statement doubling down on previous claims that all is as it should be regarding Kate’s recovery, reassuring folk that she was “doing well”.

Even so, the general lack of information available to the public has created a vacuum in which so often conjecture can spread like wildfire.

Hardly helping matters is the fact that the Princess of Wales had not been seen in person or in photo since Christmas. That was until yesterday, when a snap of Kate was taken as she sat in a car with her mother, Carol Middleton, outside of Windsor Castle.

The image marked the first time Kate had been seen in public in 70 days. Cue a fresh frenzy of speculation, in spite of the fact that the Royal Family have tried to reassure royal fans over the past week that the Princess is simply recovering on her own terms, away from the flashing of cameras.

Join us in wishing Kate Middleton well in her recovery. We think it’s great news that she’s on the mend and has a date set for her return to royal duties.

  • Why sports events start with the National Anthem

Why sports events start with the National Anthem

While it’s become second nature to hear “The Star-Spangled Banner” before sporting events, have you ever stopped to ponder why it’s played?

“The Star-Spangled Banner” is more than just a song; it’s an iconic anthem that captures the spirit of a nation, recounting a pivotal battle from the War of 1812. Its presence at sporting events has woven itself into the fabric of American sports culture, yet opinions on its necessity remain varied.

We often take for granted the familiar strains echoing through stadiums and arenas before the excitement of a game. But have you ever paused to wonder why this tradition began?

The answer takes us back to the somber days of World War I, when the anthem became a powerful reminder of national pride and resilience.

    A pivotal moment
The tradition of playing the national anthem at sporting events emerged during a time of great sorrow for the nation. While baseball fans occasionally heard the song performed by military bands in the late 19th century, it wasn’t until March 3, 1931, that Congress officially designated “The Star-Spangled Banner” as the national anthem.

Yet its significance had already begun to take root in the hearts of Americans.

A pivotal moment occurred on September 5, 1918, during Game 1 of the World Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs.

This game unfolded amid the turmoil of World War I, the same month as the U.S. Army launched one of the largest offensives in American military history, the Meuse-Argonne Campaign. Over 100,000 American men had already lost their lives on the European battlefields.

The atmosphere was heavy, and to add further sorrow, a bomb exploded in Chicago the day before the game, claiming innocent lives and casting a shadow over the festivities.

Rain delayed the match, and just over 19,000 fans gathered at Comiskey Park, a stark contrast to the usual crowds of 32,000. The mood was somber, but everything changed during the seventh-inning stretch when the U.S. Navy band began to play the national anthem.

    A chain reaction
According to the Chicago Tribune, Red Sox infielder Fred Thomas, who was in the Navy and had been granted furlough to play in the World Series, turned toward the American flag and saluted. This gesture sparked a chain reaction among other players, and as the song came to a close, the stadium erupted into thunderous applause, transforming the atmosphere into one of unbridled patriotism.

The New York Times noted that this moment was “the highest point of the day’s enthusiasm,” and from then on, the anthem began to feature prominently in future games. As a tribute to wounded veterans, the Red Sox offered free tickets to those who had served, honoring them during the anthem at the decisive Game 6.

The spirit of patriotism spread across the nation, with more ballparks incorporating the anthem into their rituals. By the time the anthem became official in 1931, the NFL had already mandated its playing at every football game, a practice that soon extended to most major sports.

The evolution of sound systems during World War II played a crucial role in the anthem’s omnipresence, making it “heard everywhere,” as author Marc Ferris explains in his book Star-Spangled Banner: The Unlikely Story of America’s National Anthem. “Before the opera, before the movies, before the theater,” he says, the anthem became synonymous with American pride.

    A heated debate
Whether the anthem belongs at sporting events has been a topic of debate for decades. As early as 1954, some voiced concerns about behavior during the performance, leading Baltimore Orioles general manager Arthur Ehlers to briefly ban it — only to reverse the decision due to public backlash.

In the 1970s, sports radio talk show host Guy Mainella stirred controversy by claiming the anthem celebrated military conquests and was out of place at sporting events. He argued, “It’s a game we’re about to watch, not the Battle of Iwo Jima.”

The conversation intensified in recent years, especially following Colin Kaepernick’s protest against systemic racism and police brutality. Longtime sports writer Peter May posed a thought-provoking question:

“Would any of us feel less patriotic or less supportive of the troops if teams agreed to stop playing the song altogether?” He added, “You only hear it at sporting events… You don’t hear it at the opera, at the theater, at the concert hall… But for reasons unknown, the song has become part of our sporting culture. You cannot attend an NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL game without hearing it.”

In November 2020, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban made the controversial decision to stop playing the anthem at home games as an act of solidarity with the player-led social justice movement. This decision ignited a firestorm, with Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick calling it “a slap in the face to every American.”

“It is hard to believe this could happen in Texas, but Mark Cuban’s actions of yesterday made it clear that we must specify that in Texas we play the national anthem before all major events,” Patrick stated.

The following year, after intense pressure from Texas politicians, the NBA reinstated the anthem at Mavericks games.

    What do you think?
As we can see, opinions vary widely: some view the melody as a tribute to fallen heroes, while others argue it represents the broader American experience. What do you think? Should we continue this cherished tradition, or is it time to evolve?

Ultimately, the meaning of “The Star-Spangled Banner” varies from person to person, shaped by individual experiences and beliefs. Does the anthem have a place at sporting events?

  • Preacher denies he’s Elvis Presley, but fans hear his voice and insist he is the King

Preacher denies he’s Elvis Presley, but fans hear his voice and insist he is the King

Since Elvis Presley tragically died in 1977, hardcore fans have been convinced the king of rock and roll staged his death to live outside the spotlight.

Some believed he was hiding from the mafia, appeared as an extra in the 1990 blockbuster Home Alone, toured California’s Legoland, tended to the grounds of Graceland and now living under the guise of a humble preacher in Arkansas.

Despite the doppelganger’s repeated denials, fans insist that Bob Joyce is “getting ready to explain” his faked death “very soon.”

Keep reading to learn what the preacher has to say about claims that he’s Elvis!

On August 16, 1977, the world was ‘All Shook Up” when it was announced that 42-year-old Elvis Aaron Presley died of cardiac arrest.

Since his death almost 50 years ago, a group of skeptics refused to accept the king of rock and roll was dead.

To this day, Elvis-obsessed fans refuse to let go and choose to believe the gyrating gent faked his own death to go into hiding.

And now they are convinced they spotted the “Jailhouse Rock” singer living as Bob Joyce, a 72-year-old preacher in Benton, Arkansas.

    ‘None other than Elvis’
Joyce looks like an older, silver-haired version of Elvis, speaks like Elvis and sings with the same soothing baritone that Elvis was adored.

And when a YouTube video of Joyce singing the gospel song “How Great Thou Art,” a song recorded by Elvis in 1967, conspiracy theorists went wild. “This is truly Elvis. No one else could sing this favorite hymn of mine like Elvis,” writes one fan in the comments section.

A second offers, “His voice will never change. We love you and hope you tell us one day the story of your life. I know who he is and so does everyone else.”

“Not even the imitation Elvis sings like Bob Joyce. Sir, I believe you are him. That rhythm and tone of voice is none other than Elvis,” shares a third believer.

Another writes, “I love you elvis bob Joyce I know but it ok no more big lights you have your piece of mind now you still have my heart (SIC).”

    ‘I’m not Elvis’
Destroying these theories, the gospel singer and preacher at The Household of Faith Church insists he is not the king of rock and roll and instead a messenger of God.

“No, I’m not Elvis. Lots of people ask me that…I got started and I was trying to tell everybody, ‘No, I’m not Elvis,” says the man who points out he’s almost 20 years younger than the “Don’t be Cruel” singer, who would be 89 in 2024. “Most of these folks know I am not Elvis but to them it doesn’t matter. They are only so grateful that God is blessing them and reviewing their lives.

“Perhaps God is using Elvis’ voice to minister to broken hearts and broken lives…If Elvis were alive, I would say to him, my friend and brother, we are of kindred spirits.

Still, many of Joyce’s fans are adamant in saying he hasn’t come out yet and will soon reveal his big secret to the world.

“All his [members of the congregation] knows it’s him as well as the many visitors to his church every Sunday from around the world know it’s him. He’s getting ready to explain it all (why he faked his death & changed his name) very soon,” writes Alabama’s Samantha Drummond Dunn, who plans on traveling to Arkansas to meet Joyce. Encouraging others to watch his YouTube videos, which she says serves as proof, she demands, “It is him!”

Poking fun at her statement, another netizen writes, “If it’s on the Internet it must be true.”

Addressing the several fake accounts on social media– including the one copied by Drummond Dunn in her post – a statement on the Bob Joyce website warns online users against believing what they see on the Internet.

“People have pretended to be Bob Joyce on multiple occasions. He does not send private messages through any online account. The only Facebook account for Pastor Bob Joyce is: facebook.com/bob.joyce.75/ All other Bob Joyce accounts on Facebook or anywhere else online are not him.”

The message adds he is not on Instagram or TikTok.

  • Man and Woman on a Blind Date Surprised to Find Their Kids are Mirror Images of Each Other

Man and Woman on a Blind Date Surprised to Find Their Kids are Mirror Images of Each Other

Emily and Damon’s blind date takes an astonishing turn when the pair realize their sons look exactly alike. Desperate to uncover the truth behind this mystery, Damon decides to confront his unstable ex-wife. Meanwhile, Emily discovers a letter containing a secret that could destroy her life.

Emily, sporting a rainbow-colored clown wig, hurried into an Italian restaurant for her blind date with Damon. They had met online and decided on an old-school blind date, Emily with her wig and Damon with a paper hat.

In the restaurant, she spotted Damon in a corner, their eyes locking as she approached. “Emily!” Damon greeted her, rising from his chair.

Their initial exchange was warm and comforting, and Emily was thrilled to meet him finally. They joked about Emily’s wig and settled into easy conversation, feeling a natural connection.

Eventually, their conversation drifted to their sons, and Damon showed Emily a photo of his son with an abstract painting. Emily was shocked; the boy resembled her son Bradley.

“Is this some kind of joke?” she asked, confused.

Damon pulled back his phone. “What do you mean? My son likes to paint, and he’s very good at it, too.”

“But… I don’t understand. You never mentioned it, but did you also adopt your child?” Emily asked.

“I didn’t.” Damon frowned. “You’re saying some very strange things, Emily. Is everything okay?”

Emily grabbed her phone and showed Damon a photo of Bradley in his soccer uniform. Both adults were now perplexed.

“Our boys are mirror images of each other, like long-lost twins! But how can that be possible?” Emily said, shocked. “Wait, my son’s 14, and yours?”

    “14. When’s your son’s birthday?” Damon asked.

    “April 16,” Emily responded.

“Same as Jordan,” Damon said, deep in thought. “It can’t be… she never mentioned twins.”

“Do you know something about this, Damon?” Emily pressed, sensing his distress.

“No, but my ex-wife might. She’s the only one who would know if we had twins. I’m sorry, but I have to go,” Damon explained, hurriedly leaving to find answers.

Left alone, Emily reflected on Bradley’s adoption, which was handled by her late husband, Jack. She wondered if Jack knew about a twin.

Jack had gotten the call that a baby was available for them to adopt shortly before Emily was released from the center where she’d been recovering from knee surgery.

When Emily finally arrived home, she was greeted at the door by Jack and a baby boy swaddled in a dinosaur blanket. Her husband had been grinning from ear to ear, and the baby in his arms was the most beautiful human being she’d ever seen in her life.

At home, Emily greeted Bradley, who noticed her unease.

“What’s wrong, Mom? Did that Damon guy do something to hurt you? If he did—”

“Everything’s fine, honey,” she replied, forcing a smile, and hurried to her bedroom.

There, Emily searched for Bradley’s adoption papers but found nothing. Realizing she had never seen them as she’d believed Jack had handled everything well, her sense of unease grew.

She changed into her home clothes and went to the attic, determined to uncover the truth. In the dusty attic, she approached a chest of Jack’s belongings, hoping to find answers in the fading light of her flashlight.

Jack’s sudden passing had left Emily reeling. One day, they were planning a family holiday; the next day, she received a call from the police.

A fatal brain aneurysm he’d suffered while driving home resulted in Jack’s car veering off the highway, leading to an accident and his death.

Struggling with his loss and motherhood, Emily enlisted her brother’s help to pack Jack’s belongings into the attic. Now, seeking answers about her son’s adoption, she discovered an envelope in Jack’s handwriting in his box of things.

‘Dear Emily,’ Jack had written in the letter inside, ‘I’ve been lying to you for almost a year…’

Meanwhile, Damon revisited the facility where his ex-wife, Naomi, resided, a place he hadn’t seen in three years. The atmosphere was heavy with unease, marked by silent orderlies and patients lost in their own worlds.

“I told you not to come back here, Damon,” Naomi greeted him coldly.

“I know, but this is important. Can you tell me what happened the night Jordan was born?”

Naomi frowned and lowered her head. Her gaze darted from side to side. “I already told you, Damon. The tall man told me I needed to leave, so I did. I don’t remember anything else!”

Damon and Naomi, who met in college, were initially happy together. Their joy grew when Naomi fell pregnant shortly after Damon joined a prestigious firm. However, their happiness turned to worry when Naomi developed preeclampsia, a health complication characterized by severe headaches and blurry vision.

Naomi’s reaction to her diagnosis was extreme. She quit her job and her doctor, choosing to stay home and rest. But her condition worsened, and she grew increasingly paranoid, often speaking of a threat to their baby. This paranoia escalated, and one day, while they were shopping, she claimed a tall man warned her of danger, although no such man approached them.

Unfortunately, Naomi’s mental health continued to deteriorate, leading Damon to convince her to see a psychologist. The psychologist diagnosed Naomi with stress-induced schizophrenia, revealing a family history of the condition that Naomi had kept from Damon. This revelation explained her erratic behavior, but it also compounded the challenges they faced, as treating her schizophrenia was complicated by her preeclampsia.

As Naomi’s due date approached, Damon’s anticipation of their child’s birth was overshadowed by his fear and concern for his wife. Tragically, with just over a month left in her pregnancy, Naomi disappeared, leaving no trace behind. Damon reported her missing, but she seemed to have vanished without a trace.

Damon’s nights were consumed by a desperate search for Naomi. He checked every familiar place, but she remained elusive. His search ended with a call from the police; Naomi had been found in an alley, in labor, and rushed to the hospital.

Damon, overwhelmed by a flood of emotions, rushed to the hospital, where Naomi, recovering and holding their newborn son, Jordan, dropped a bombshell. “I’m divorcing you,” she declared, “and giving up my parental rights.”

Now, years later, sitting across from Naomi, Damon sought answers about their past. “Naomi, did you give birth to twins?” he asked.

“No, there were no twins,” Naomi replied, her mind clouded by her condition. “There was Jordan and a parasite. The tall man helped me… he took it away.”

Meanwhile, Emily, grappling with her own crisis, read Jack’s letter. He confessed that he knew about his inoperable cerebral aneurysm but had hidden it from her because he didn’t want to worry her. He also confessed to rescuing a newborn from an alley and falsifying adoption papers for their son, Bradley.

“…I took the baby and called the police. I was going to hand the child over to the police, but when I looked down at his little face, I knew he would be perfect for you. I brought him home and convinced Michael to falsify the details on the adoption papers inside this envelope. They should pass a cursory inspection, but you should know that they won’t stand up in court.

I’m sorry I couldn’t do better for you, my darling Emily.”

Emily clutched the letter to her chest and sobbed. She contemplated telling Damon the possibility that Bradley could be his biological son. While she hesitated to call, Damon’s call came through.

    “Hello?” Emily answered nervously.

“I’ve just spoken to my ex-wife, Naomi,” Damon sighed, climbing into his car. “She has schizophrenia and mentioned something bizarre about the night of Jordan’s birth. It’s important, Emily.”

“Come over, Damon. I’ve found something, too,” she replied.

    ***

At Emily’s home, Damon spilled Naomi’s story. “She thought she was carrying twins…believed one was a parasite. She might have put the baby in a dumpster.”

“Actually, I don’t think the baby was in a dumpster,” Emily said, handing him Jack’s letter.

“So, Jack saved my son?” Damon realized as he read the document.

“Please, don’t take Bradley away,” Emily pleaded. “I know you have the right. But don’t. Please.”

“Nobody’s taking me!” Bradley burst into the room, holding Jack’s hunting rifle. “I’m not going anywhere with you!”

“I’m not here to take you, Bradley,” Damon raised his hands. “You’re Emily’s son. I won’t change that.”

Emily was holding it all in until this very moment. She threw her arms around Damon’s neck and sobbed into his shoulder. Damon rubbed her back as she muttered ‘thank you’s against him. After a few minutes, she broke away with a grateful smile and rose to confront her son.

“Please, put the rifle down, Bradley,” Emily said. “I hate that you overheard so much of this conversation, but there’s nothing we can do to change that, so I need you to sit down so Damon and I can explain.”

“Damon?” Bradley’s eyebrows arched in shock, and he set the gun down against the wall. “The same Damon you went on a date with earlier?”

“Yes, but we need to explain something else,” Emily said. Bradley finally sat down, and Emily and Damon explained the truth to the young boy.

“So, he’s my father, and I have a twin brother?” Bradley asked.

“We think so,” Emily nodded. “A DNA test can confirm it.”

“Why me? Why did she give me up and not my brother?” Bradley asked Damon, his voice tinged with pain.

“Naomi was very sick, suffering from schizophrenia,” Damon explained gently. “She was confused and thought only one child lived. She asked Jack to take you.”

Bradley, trying to hold back tears, nodded, accepting the explanation.

    “What happens now?” Bradley asked.

“We do a DNA test, then figure out how to move forward. If it confirms everything, we’re a family,” Damon said, squeezing Emily’s hand.

“This has turned out to be one heck of a first date, right?” Damon glanced at Emily with a slight smile.

Emily laughed, but it was a high-pitched, nervous laugh. “You can say that again!”

“I know this is a lot to take in, Bradley,” Damon said, turning his attention to the young man. “We’ll handle this together, as a family. Emily and I both want what’s best for you, and we’re here to support you through all of this.”

Bradley nodded slowly, still processing the information. “I just… I need some time to think, you know?”

“Of course,” Emily replied, her eyes filled with concern. “Take all the time you need, sweetheart. We’re not rushing anything. This is going to be a journey that we’ll all need to walk together.”

As Bradley excused himself and headed upstairs, Emily turned to Damon, her expression a mix of gratitude and uncertainty.

“What do we do next, Damon? How do we navigate all of this?”

Damon sighed, running a hand over his hair. “First, I’ll need to tell Jordan, but that can wait until morning. Then, we should get that DNA test done. It will provide the clarity we need. Once we have the results, we can decide how to approach the future together.” He met Emily’s gaze, a reassuring glint in his eyes. “No matter what, we face it as a family.”

Kitten was dyed with toxic blue paint and left in the rain — rescuers help her make a stunning transformation

It’s truly heartbreaking how some people treat animals, but thankfully there are also kind people willing to step up and give these poor creatures the love and care they need.

That was the story of one poor cat who was cruelly dyed blue and then left for dead — but a rescuer helped her make an amazing transformation…

According to the YouTube channel The Moho, the cat was discovered outside in the rain. Someone had reportedly dyed her with toxic blue ink for “cruel fun” and then discarded her.

Animal rescuer Amauri Gomes found the cat and took her to the vet. They began the time-consuming process of carefully removing the blue paint off of her using pet-safe cleansers and oils.

With time and patience, the rescuers were able to get 90% of the paint off. The process was painful for the cat and much of her fur came off, but they did their best to keep her calm and comfortable, and she was reportedly cooperative.

They, fittingly, named the cat “Blue.” The rescuers fed her and provided medical care, and soon Blue began to bounce back: she reportedly had the “sweetest demeanor.”

And once they had removed most of the blue paint, her true colors shined through, revealing a beautiful white and gray coat.

Once the cat had healed, regained weight and was back to her natural colors, she was reportedly placed up for adoption.

It’s unbelievable that anyone would dye a cat blue like this, but we’re glad she’s now doing well and back to her normal colors 💙 Thank you to everyone who saved Blue!

A Woman Who Became A “Vampire” By Covering Entire Body In Tattoos Issues Warning

A Woman Who Became A “Vampire” By Covering Entire Body In Tattoos Issues Warning
A fierce warning has been sent to those who are imitating her, by the woman who holds the Guinness World Record for having the most bodily alterations.

Known as the “real-life vampire” due to her unusual appearance, Maria José Cristerna has been working on her large collection of tattoos for the majority of her life. She had her first tattoo at the age of 14.

With 50 physical changes in total, the Mexican woman has cemented her spot as the most changed woman in the Guinness World Records for 2022.

Among Cristerna’s unusual modifications are implants in her arms and forehead, multiple piercings, a split tongue, and an amazing collection of tattoos that cover almost her whole body, including her eyeballs

Speaking to Guinness World Records, Cristerna admitted: “In the beginning, my dad didn’t agree with the idea. But after that, he took me to the tattoo studio to get my very first tattoo.”

She emphasized her deep connection to art, stating: “Art runs through my veins. Since I was a little kid, I loved art, and now I can express it through my body.”

She attributes her changes to an oppressive and abusive ten-year marriage, seeking to advocate for other women who have experienced comparable physical, mental, and emotional abuse. “The only way to escape from violence and abuse is by loving yourself. We came to this world to be happy,” she asserted.

Her physical changes are emblems of bravery, tenacity, and liberation from her past.

Although every alteration has particular meaning, Cristerna found that having implants placed in her arms and the pigmentation in her eyes to be the most agonizing.

Celebrating her Guinness World Records title, Cristerna remains resolute in her pursuit of self-expression.

“You always can reach your goals. There are no limits. Nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it,” she declared.

She envisions covering 100 percent of her body in tattoos, proudly stating: “I don’t care what people think about me. I put myself in first place. I know who I am, and that is what is important.”

She did, however, issue a cautionary message to young people contemplating similar drastic alterations, as Cristerna said: “The advice I would give is that you have to think about it a lot as it is irreversible.”

She continued: “I love the way I look, but you have to understand that there are young people who are very open to tattoos and piercings and everything. It’s become fashionable, so we might get to a point where it’s not what we want anymore, and we might not like it anymore.”

“So you have to think about it very hard in order to love it and be able to defend it your whole life.”

The “Vampire Woman,” who earlier this week wrote about a new tattoo, is still getting inked, despite her advice to others not to get tattoos unless they were absolutely confident about them.

She posted a picture of her most recent makeover on Instagram, showing an artist working on her back at a tattoo shop. A caption that goes with the image says, “One more stripe for my brother’s tiger Rene Camarena Laus Satanus.”

‘Why Did You Give Birth to Me?’ Boy Is Ashamed of Old Mom Until He Learns He’s Not Her Son

A teenage boy shunned his mom for being old, one day asking why she gave birth to him. After she ended up in the hospital after a fight of theirs, he discovers she didn’t actually give birth to him.

One Saturday, a thirteen-year-old boy named Tim was hanging out with his friends at a local cafe. Tim and his friends would usually spend the entire weekend together, before meeting again the following week while in school.

That day, Tim’s mom Gloria wanted to change up his routine by inviting him to watch a new superhero movie with her. While it wasn’t her interest, she wanted to spend more time with her son and knew that he loved watching superhero movies.

Gloria kept calling Tim on his cellphone, but he wouldn’t pick up. So, she decided to make her way to the cafe, knowing that this was where Tim and his friends usually had lunch on Saturdays.

When she spotted Tim and his friends, she made her way to them, only to see Tim’s friends giggling. “Your grandmother’s come to pick you up, Tim!” they teased.

Tim glared at his mother and walked up to her to stop her from going any closer. “What are you doing here?”! he scolded her. “You’re embarrassing me in front of my friends!”

“Why am I embarrassing you, son?” Gloria asked. “I wanted to ask if you wanted to watch a movie with me. I want to be with you more, son, while I still can,” she smiled, trying to hold his hand.

Tim shrugged off her hand and refused to leave his friends. “Leave me alone, I’m with my friends,” he told her. “Please leave before more people notice you!”

Gloria walked back home sadly, wondering why Tim refused to be near her, especially around his friends. She spent the entire afternoon cooking up Tim’s favorite spaghetti and meatballs recipe, hoping he would make it home in time for dinner.

When he got home that night, it was already half past ten. Tim went straight to his room, not even acknowledging Gloria’s presence in the living room.

She followed him to his room and knocked on the door. “I waited for you,” she told him. “I made your favorite spaghetti and meatballs. Do you want some?” she asked him.

Tim shot her another look, the same one he gave her at the cafe. “I obviously don’t. I would have gone straight to the kitchen if I wanted to eat,” he told her. “Leave me alone, I’m tired.”

“What’s the matter, Tim?” Gloria decided to ask him. “Why is it that you don’t like being with me anymore? We used to be inseparable!”

“Please,” Tim begged again. “Leave me alone! You won’t like what happens next!” he threatened.

“What is it?” Gloria asked. “I’m worried about you, Tim. I barely know what’s going on in your life!” she said, trying to walk closer to him.

“You’re such an old, boring woman! Everyone thinks you’re my grandmother. Why did you even give birth to me?!” he said, irritated that Gloria kept pestering him.

Gloria felt a pain in her chest after hearing Tim yell at her that way. Before she could respond, Tim grabbed his backpack and ran out the door.

“Tim!” Gloria called out. “Where are you going?” she said, following him down the stairs, and out the front door.

Tim rode on his bike and left the street. Gloria tried calling out and chasing after him, but he was too fast. Then, she fainted in front of one of her neighbor’s houses.

When Tim gets home late that night, he sees a neighbor standing in front of their front door. “Where have you been, Timothy!” she yelled.

“Your mom wanted so badly not to tell you. But I think you deserve to know the truth, especially after what you’ve been putting her through,” his neighbor told him.

“Why do you care? Did my old mother ask you to wait up for me because she couldn’t wait to sleep?” he asked.

“You are so ungrateful!” the woman said, grabbing Tim by the collar. “You gave your mother a heart attack!”

“I didn’t ask her to give birth to me! Why did she force herself to have a child, now she’s upset that I’m not the son she wants me to be?” Tim said coldly.

His neighbor scoffed. “Give birth to you?” she said, pulling Tim to her home. “You want the truth? I’ll give you the truth so you stop talking rudely about your mother who has given you EVERYTHING!”

When they got there, she handed him a folder with documents regarding Tim’s adoption and treatment. “Your mom wanted so badly not to tell you. But I think you deserve to know the truth, especially after what you’ve been putting her through,” his neighbor told him.

Tim read through the papers and saw his adoption papers as well as the diagnosis of his cardiac disease. Gloria had put out a loan on her house to pay for his surgery and nursed him to life.

“Now do you have even an ounce of pity or gratitude for your poor mother?” his neighbor asked. “She’s done everything for you, and you’ve been absolutely horrible to her.”

Tim could feel the tears streaming down his face. He felt awful for how he had been treating his mother, realizing that she always had his best interest at heart.

He took his bike and rushed to the hospital where his mother was in. In tears, he asks the nurse to take him to the intensive care unit where his mom was recuperating.

Tim was heartbroken to see his mom with so many wires attached to her body. He rushed to her side, holding her hand. “I’m so sorry, mom,” he started to say. “I’ve been the worst son. Please, please get better. I promise we will spend a lot more time together,” he begged.

It took Gloria another two months before she recovered completely, and she needed to change her lifestyle to lower her risk of another heart attack. Since then, Tim joined her in exercises and prepared heart-healthy food for himself and his mom every single day.
